Extremely high standards
Judges repeatedly comment on the efficiency of the competition, and the very high standard of the competitors. The competitors themselves tell us that it is the friendliest competition they have entered, in large part because those who need accommodation stay with families in the area, rather than having to find hotels or B&Bs.
After the 2008 Competition, Ronan O’Hora, piano section judge, commented:
“I thought the Competition showed an extremely high standard in all the classes and I was very impressed with both the care that had clearly gone into the organisation and the spirit of friendliness in which the whole event took place. The Competition deserves a very successful future, building on its illustrious tradition”.Of the same event, William Fong, piano section judge, had this to say:
"A combination of high artistic ideals, sympathetic support for competitors, logistic acumen and general enthusiasm for music involving much of the local community characterises the flavour of this event. An international competition that attracts the best of the young musicians from around the world and at the same time recognises the importance of local roots. This year we heard some truly remarkable playing... TWIMC has a very important role to play in promoting young musician and deserves continued support".
